Consultation for bad breath
If you undertake a thorough dental hygiene routine, but are still suffering from bad breath, you should consult your dentist as to the cause. Bad breath isn’t only detrimental on a social level, but can also be a symptom of a disease that requires treatment.
Plaque, a coated tongue or inflamed gums can lead to bad breath. First of all, mouth hygiene needs to be optimised. We are more than happy to advise you thoroughly regarding this. Should the cause be periodontitis, quick action is required as, without treatment, this can lead to a complete loss of teeth (or even to an infection in other parts of the body). Even cavities can negatively affect respiration and should therefore be treated as quickly as possible. Last but not least, a disease such as diabetes or a kidney malfunction needs to be ruled out as a cause for the bad breath.
As this problem affects many patients, we have introduced a consultation especially for bad breath. We are more than happy to explain the possible cause of, and treat your bad breath.
